The Australasian Council of Paramedicine Deans (‘the Council’) is an international collaboration that brings together the twenty universities offering entry-to-practice paramedicine degrees in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Membership of the Council is restricted to universities that offer paramedicine programs that have been approved as ‘recognised’ programs by the Paramedicine Board of Australia or the Council of Ambulance Authorities for programs in Aotearoa New Zealand. Each member university is represented by their paramedicine program’s academic lead or their proxy.
The Council was formed in March 2019 and has unanimous support across the twenty recognised university programs.
“The Council’s purpose is to:
Develop and communicate to nominated stakeholders a shared vision for paramedicine higher education
Advance and promote higher education and research in the discipline of paramedicine
Advocate best practice in paramedicine higher education through consultation and engagement with relevant stakeholders and members
Collaborate and consult with industry to evolve the discipline of paramedicine
Advocate for improved patient care through the provision of evidence-based paramedicine education”
